Real Madrid 3-0 Villarreal: First-half salvo from Benzema, Kaka and Di Maria torpedoes Yellow Submarine

A goal each from Karim Benzema, Kaka, and Angel di Maria proved enough for Real Madrid to defeat Villarreal 3-0 in Primera Division action at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

The damage was done inside the opening half-hour, as the hosts tore their struggling guests to shreds with a superb display of attacking style and substance.

Jose Mourinho's side came rapidly out of the blocks and quickly established a high tempo in the match. The ball was in the Villarreal net within three minutes, but Sergio Ramos' headed goal was rightfully judged to be offside.

It took just three minutes for the hosts to strike again, and this time it counted.

Di Maria found space on the halfway line and drove a glorious pass over the top of the Villarreal defense for Benzema, who took the ball down with his chest and cheekily clipped over the onrushing Diego Lopez.

Madrid struck again six minutes later. Benzema fed the ball into the feet of Kaka on the edge of the Villarreal box, and with his back to goal, the Brazilian swivelled round and drove into the bottom corner with his left foot.

Scott Olsen injuries prompt review as Occupy Oakland protests continue

An Iraq war veteran has a fractured skull and brain swelling after allegedly being hit by a police projectile.

Scott Olsen is in a "critical condition" in Highland hospital in Oakland, a hospital spokesman confirmed.

Olsen, 24, suffered the head injury during protests in Oakland on Tuesday evening. More than 15 people were arrested after a crowd gathered to demonstrate against the police operation to clear two Occupy Oakland camps in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Jay Finneburgh, a photographer who was covering the protest, published pictures of Olsen lying on the ground.

"This poor guy was right behind me when he was hit in the head with a police projectile. He went down hard and did not get up," Finneburgh wrote.Oakland's independent police review body will examine the clashes between riot officers and protesters that left an Iraq war veteran in a critical condition as Occupy protestors prepare to rally at the same spot for a third night of protests.

Police battled protesters following an Occupy Oakland march to demonstrate against the closing of two occupations in the city in the early hours of Tuesday morning. More than 100 people have been arrested in Oakland since police cleared a camp in Frank Ogawa plaza.

Manchester City reached the last eight of the Carling Cup after their lethal attack made light work of Wolves.

Wolves took a shock lead when Nenad Milijas smashed in before Adam Johnson equalised from the edge of the area.

It was 3-1 four minutes later when Johnson's ball was tucked home by Samir Nasri before Edin Dzeko tapped in.

A Dorus De Vries own goal extended the lead and Dzeko turned in the fifth before Wolves' Jamie O'Hara converted Stephen Ward's ball from the left.

Five more goals from City meant that the Manchester club have scored 15 goals in their last three games.

They started poorly though as Wolves took the lead before the game was turned on its head in four madcap first-half minutes.

Last night Michigan was treated to an amazing show of Northern Lights as the skies exploded in red, green, white and even blues and yellows of the best display of the Aurora Borealis in years. Our Michigan Northern Lights Log and Flickr group lit up with photos and reports.

Grand Theft Auto V announced

In an unexpected and understated move, Rockstar surprised the games industry today with a holding page on their website announcing the existence of Grand Theft Auto V. The page simply features a logo for GTAV and a date for the game's first trailer on 2 November.
While next to nothing is known of the new game, the existence of GTAV was never in doubt. However, the left-field nature of the announcement suggests the game may be coming sooner than expected. The news comes after Grand Theft Auto III, the game that put Rockstar and the GTA series firmly on the map, celebrated its tenth anniversary with an iOS port.

Grand Theft Auto was originally created as a top down open world game for PC and Sony PlayStation by Edinburgh based DMA Design in 1997. However, the series

breakthrough came with Grand Theft Auto III for PlayStation 2 which garnered critical acclaim for its rich and detailed setting Liberty City. GTA III arguably popularised the open-world template, and Rockstar have continued to build on this legacy with subsequent Grand Theft Auto games, and titles such as Old West adventure Red Dead Redemption. Speaking to reporters Monday, Suh denied "trash talking" Ryan and noted the injury occurred when Falcons left tackle Will Svitek stepped on Ryan's ankle. Suh called the play "karma" for "all the bad stuff" the Falcons' offensive line has "done in the past."

Said Suh: "There are many, many, many plays that I could go back to that I watch on film all week that their offensive line has done," Suh said, "and that they've been coached to do, as far as I know. It's not anything that's not been said; it's not anything that's new."

MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli dies after crash in Malaysia

Marco Simoncelli has died from the injuries he sustained in a crash on the second lap of the Malaysian Grand Prix. He was 24.

Simoncelli was fighting for fourth with Alvaro Bautista when he lost the front of his bike and slid across the circuit, into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi, both of whom appeared to hit the Honda.

Simoncelli lay stricken on the track after the crash, his helmet having come off during the incident.

He was taken by ambulance to the circuit's medical centre, but at 4.56pm local time it was announced he had succumbed to his injuries.

The death was the first fatality in MotoGP since Daijiro Katoh, also a Gresini rider, passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the 2003 Japanese Grand Prix. The last fatal accident in the world championship series came when Moto2 rider Showa Tomizawa was killed at Misano last September.

Simoncelli had established himself as one of the most exciting new stars in MotoGP this season, his second year at the top level with the Gresini Honda team.The race was stopped immediately with the red flag and Simoncelli was transported by ambulance to the circuit medical centre where the medical staff worked to resuscitate him.

Despite their efforts, Marco sadly succumbed to his injuries at 4:56pm local time.

Everybody involved in MotoGP extends its deepest condolences to Marco’s family, friends and team at this tragic loss.

FAA investigates skydiving sex stunt over California - Full Video

The Federal Aviation Administration says it will look into a videotaped skydiving sex stunt to determine if the pilot might have been distracted during the incident over Kern County.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says any activity that could distract the pilot while he's flying could be a violation of federal regulations.

Skydive Taft owner David Chrouch says he fired part-time skydiving instructor and porn star Alex Torres and hasn't decided whether to fire the company's receptionist, Hope Howell, who he said was Torres' partner in the video.

The video shows the two having sex in a plane before jumping out in tandem and continuing the act midair.

NBC station KGET-TV in Bakersfield reported that Chrouch said that Torres put the stunt together in an attempt to get the attention of Howard Stern. "Apparently they told my pilot it was OK to do this. And got here early in the morning before anyone got here and shot this," Chrouch told KGET.

Authorities say Torres had posted the video on his blog but removed it on Monday. Chrouch said he found out about the stunt when a Taft police officer told him that the video was making the rounds at a local school.

Taft police Lt. Ed Whiting told KGET-TV that no criminal charges are pending.

At one point in the video the couple is shown seated in a jump seat right next to the pilot.

"No I wasn't concerned," Chrouch told KGET. "He was in complete control of the plane at all times. I mean he looked back a couple of times. The same thing he does if there are other skydivers in the plane. He is going to look back, he's going to look around to see what everyone is doing."

THEY became a YouTube sensation after their adorable performance of Nicki Minaj's Super Bass went viral earlier this month.

And yesterday little Sophia Grace Brownlee, 8, and her cousin Rosie Grace McClelland, 5, from Essex, England, got the surprise of their lives during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The talk show host introduced the pair, who were both dressed in their now famous pink ballerina outfits and tiaras, to their idol after they performed a lively rendition of her hit song.
Sophia Grace, who wowed the crowd with her impressive vocals, squealed with delight as the pop star emerged from backstage.
She immediately jumped into the singer's arms and threw her arms around her.
Rosie, who dances and offers support while her old cousin sings, also gave her a hug.

DeGeneres then gave them Nicki inspired wigs, microphones and necklaces to complete their look.
The star then joined her little fans for another rendition of the song.

"Within five seconds of seeing this video I was calling everyone," the 28-year-old said.
"I was also receiving a billion emails. Everyone was like 'you have to see this little girl'. She blew me away. I have a hype man and you have a hype girl."

She added: "I said 'superstar'. Seriously, we are watching a journey that’s about to be amazing."
